What I'm Playing - January 2018

I like video games. I like playing them on my phone or tablet. I like playing them on the PS4. Liking something doesn't necessary mean you're very good at it, though.  If you were to compare my progress to more skillful players (like either one of my boys, for example), you would find that it takes me three to four times longer to finish a game than it does them.  I don't always make the best decisions.  Just like in real life, I am easily distracted by bright and shiny objects.  What this means is that I play the same games for months and months or even years and years because I am a sucker for side quests. This penchant for not completing the main storyline is only partly responsible for how long I've been playing the first game I'm going to highlight.  The fact of the matter is I'm not the best at fighting with anything that requires aiming.  I'm more of a melee fighter, which is probably why I die so often.  When you're in contact with the ...

I Think I'll Just Ramble A Bit...and Call it a Blog Post

It's been awhile.  I haven't really been able to come up with any riveting topics, so I've pretty much been in avoidance mode. We're in the process of planning our summer.  Vacations of varying length have been scheduled or are being discussed. Other than Myrtle Beach, all of these trips will take place in our home state because it's expensive to pull that camper too far!  Although, one of our yet-to-be-finalized trips will take us on a nice 8-9 hour journey.  That is, if the trip gets finalized before all our weekends are booked elsewhere.   Let's see.  We have two open houses that I know of so far.  A concert to attend.  Motor City ComicCon to marvel at; although that's in May, so maybe it doesn't count in the summer tally.   Of course, I have yet to buy the tickets for those last two events.   Image courtesy of Motor City Comic Con. Image courtesy of Def Leppard I really want to do both this summer.  I...

My Christmas Movie Playlist

Today as I was browsing Facebook I was admiring one of my (much younger) cousin's lucky find at a church rummage sale: a beautiful artificial Christmas tree she got for free.  While she put it together, she mentioned that she had been watching her favorite Christmas movie.  I'd have to agree with her: this seems like the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit to me.  Putting up your tree, whether it's artificial or dropping sap and pine needles, with a Christmas movie playing in the background helps create a little holiday ambiance. I love Christmas movies.  As we will be putting up our tree this weekend after a visit to the tree farm, I thought about the movies I have quick and easy access to in my DVD cupboard.  There are quite a few, and not all of them are enjoyed by the entire family.   My kids recently added this one to our DVR and we've already watched it.  I'm thinking that automatically disqualifies if from consideration, but ...

Some of My Favorite Shows

Today I bring you a hodgepodge of my favorite television shows.  This is what happens when I don't know what else to talk about on the ole blog. Not my photo.  Linked from real owner's URL. I didn't start watching The Walking Dead until season two had been mostly aired.  A coworker or two had mentioned it, and Facebook was abuzz with how fabulous it was.  I'm so glad I let peer pressure goad me into watching the first season on Netflix.  I was soon up-to-date and eagerly awaiting Sunday nights.   What I Love:  The fact the zombies are often less of a threat than the human survivors.  I really think this show has a lot to say about human nature, both the good and bad.  Not my photo.  Linked from real owner's URL. I've been a fan of The Big Bang Theory for quite a few years now.  I enjoyed it when it was just Penny and the boys, but now that they've added in Bernadette and Amy, I find the show 100% more enjoyable. ...
