I'm stalled. I thought I'd work on the story at lunch today and didn't. Apparently my Muse has decided the corner I've boxed myself into is just punishment for my creative ignorance or, to be a bit more honest, my lack of foresight. Why am I sabotaging every rescue attempt? I DON'T KNOW! But I wish I'd stop.
I'd like to move forward.
I just need a sound and reasonable avenue for my hero and heroine to escape their current misery.

You could try writing ten different things that could happen to them at this particular point. Make sure a couple are really far fetched to get the ball rolling such as "A big ball rolls down the hill and knocks the hero into another dimension. The heroine chases after said ball when she realizes that her life is nothing without him." Umm, yeah...you could use that if you want...but I think you get the idea. Sometimes you need to open your mind to really crazy ideas to get the right one. Good luck. Amanda
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll try that!
ReplyDeleteI may be late on this one. I'm sure you're past your quandary by now....
ReplyDeleteOne thing I do is put my work aside and start writing anew from the point of view of the antagonist. That usually inspires action in my hero.
Best of luck with your work. I look forward to stopping into a Borders and reading it some day!
