Looking for Willing Victims

I've decided I'd like to expand my photography skills and experience. This means I need willing models. So far I've got a couple of people who might be willing to let me practice on them. I'm excited but nervous. I want so badly to take amazing pictures and give them each something they like. Shoot #1: Mom wants me to take Christmas pictures of her three daughters. I'm very excited, but I also want a lovely background. I was thinking of taking them to a park or some other such setting where there's a lot of pines. The Agent Hunt

Okay, so I talked a lot about self-publishing the novel, but now that I'm sitting here with a revised manuscript, I've decided to give it a fighting chance in the big, bad world of Publishing. You know, the Industry. And, yes, all those capital letters are needed for proper emphasis. So far, I've had one contract for representation offered. I turned it down. There were too many red flags for me to blissfully ignore. First, all correspondance was automated. Even after they said they'd like to represent my work, the e-mails still arrived in the form of a form letter. If that wasn't weird enough, they didn't charge any fees (oh, no! never. not until we sell you...), but they couldn't refer me fast enough to a "professional critiquing service". Uh huh. Partners in crime, there. So, I declined their offer and sent out the next query. Keep your fingers crossed!

Shopping & Packing

This may come as a surprise, but I don't consider myself much of a shopper. Don't get me wrong, I could be! I could easily spend my weekends hopping from store to store, searching for that perfect pair of jeans or a cute little shirt to go with those shorts I have at home. I could also spend hours browsing the local B&N in search of the next best read. Oh, yes, I could easily become a hardcore shopper if the funds were available. But I don't frequent the mall because there's always something more pressing to spend my paychecks on and I'm not very good at window shopping. If I'm browsing, I'm buying. So I don't go. At least, not often. However, as we all know, there are times when shopping is necessary. Family vacations happen to be one of them. My feeling on the matter is that everyone needs to look good in the hundreds of photos I will undoubtedly take. Last year's wardrobe just won't do, not even if it still fits! Besides, I doubt...
